Since we left Kuala Lumpur we have been travelling to Pulau Tioman on the west coast of Malaysia not so far from Singapore. Unfortunally we had to sleep one night at Mersing because the only ferry that day had already left in the early morning. Therefore we had to get up again at 6 am to catch the ferry the next day. After a two hours freezing boat drive we arrived at Air Batang Beach - and found out that nearly none of the resorts, diving stores or even restaurants had already open.
Some locals explained us later, that normally no or just few tourists come durind monsoon time - and we were just very happy that it wasn't raining and we mostly had very nice wheater.
So what to do if everything is still closed and nobody is around?
We mostly stayed (alone) at some beach, relaxed and enjoyed the scenery.
Fortunally we found some guy who was renting us snorkelling equipment (for 10% of the regular price or something) so we were snorkelling some days and even were able to swim around with some turtles and watched lots of beautiful 'Nemo' Clown Fishes.
One day we went hiking to another bay which was called 'Monkey Bay' and even there were some monkeys they were really shy and didn't disturb us - or were aggressive towards us.
After twenty minutes we passed a resort which was completly left-alone so it had kind of adventuring a ghost city or something like that to walk around the empty and sometimes destroyed ways...
So it was a 1.5 hours march through the jungle - and a little bit more than an hour back, because we were able to take some shortcuts over the beach, because the tide was low :)
So some evening we spend outside of our bungalow - and some we spent with some locals drinking some wine or beer, and luckily we found out that one of them had a diving school (which seemed to be closed) but he said he is already opened and so we were probably the only four divers at the whole island the next day :)
We saw some more turtles and Tobi & Rene really saw a shark swimming away, and unfortunately we saw a net which was stuck at some corals, and two small dead sharks were caught in it and died there :/
The nice locals did even invite us to a chinese restaurant for a very delicious dinner and they let us taste there very special local dish - which normally is only served at weddings or big celebrations (porcupine with some herbes cooked).
So now we are staying in Singapore, and for me the next stop is going to be Bali, my flight is tomorrow, and Tobi & Rene will return to KL where their flight is back to Germany on the 30th.
So some Singapore experiences and pictures will follow soon - stay tuned ;)
